What do you think happened?

So one time i was on a mission to confront my babys dad. I was 3 months pregnant and I drove 4 hours in a rent-a-car to tell his parents.. Anyways i went to fill up my tank and my card was declined!! So I gave them my Graphing Calculator for collateral and told them I would get the money wired to me and pay them the 40.00 I owed within an hour, there was a safeway up the road.. Well they agreed and as I was leaving the guy who pumped my gas (who I was telling my baby dad situation to) put his arm around me and said "if you dont come back its on me.. meaning itll be my fault, I'd take the rap for it.. I didnt know what he meant. but needless to say i never returned and they still have my graphing calculator and driver license... That was a year ago.. and nothing happened.. So what do you think happened? Did that man pay for it??
