You need to consult with a trainer or behaviorist on this as soon as possible. This is not a good sign and will eventually lead to her biting someone. The sooner you get help with this, the better. In the meantime, you do not want to punish missy for growling. Growling is her warning sign. If you take that away from her, she will "bite without warning" (as you have shown her that warning is not acceptable). The trainer/behaviorist can help you socialize her and help her to be more relaxed around company so that no one ends up getting hurt (with the dog paying the ultimate price and losing your loving home).
